A series of articles and subsequent pros and cons published in the Atlanta Journal Constitution debate the merits of speed traps, expensive license plate recognition software and other methods used by cities in Georgia and other states to supposedly increase driving safety for motorists. Is the motive purely to create a cash machine for municipalities and cities large and small, or rather, is it an effort by law enforcement to enforce consequences for those who choose to repeatedly violate speed limits in cities and counties in Georgia?
